The Petty Thieves

Founded in 2015, The Petty Thieves are a good time band playing their favorite Tom Petty songs. They are not Petty impersonators per se, just fake Heartbreakers playing with the rock-n-roll style and energy of a live Petty show. The Petty Thieves are based out of Raleigh/Chapel Hill, NC and started when members Matt Daniels (Guitar/lead vocals) and Will Boone (lead guitar) began playing together at various open mics in the area. Having a shared love of Petty’s music, they would often play some of his songs and noticed how crowds would respond. That gave them the idea of forming a full Petty band because as Will said, “Who doesn’t like Tom Petty?!” The rest of the band is rounded out by veteran musicians Charles Cleaver on keyboards and vocals, Gary Owen on bass guitar, Beasley Nelson on drums, and John Adams on percussion and backing vocals. The Thieves have an ever growing fan base and are always crowd pleasers. They do theaters, clubs, festivals, private events, weddings, funerals - anywhere there is a Petty Need!
